"Before I met with Jo, I had no idea what to expect about coaching. I was a little nervous and apprehensive. But in probably the first minute, all that worry disappeared. Working with her truly is, as she says, like talking with a very objective friend. ; I noticed amazing changes in myself from that very first day that grew over our time together, and have since continued to grow. She was somehow able, in 4 short sessions, to help me clear out all the self-doubt, all the false expectations, that had clouded me my whole life from seeing what I really want for myself. And, once I finally was able to see it, she helped me find a straight path. She is the first person who has not only called me on my negative patterns of thinking, but challenged them in such a clear way that I had no choice but to discard them. She gave me new ways to look at challenges, so now instead of seeing roadblocks, all I see is road. I am more empowered, more at peace, less stressed, and, best of all, happy with the life I am making for myself." D. - Florida

"Well, I just came from the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association in Washington in my new car to my new apartment, a spacious one bedroom with cute sloped ceilings in a sweet neighborhood of Baltimore. Tomorrow I have to be at work at 8 to help compile reviews for a report on family planning methods and tackle work on the new blog that I am overseeing at work. It's all about what's new with health information and in particular women's health issues.

The crazy thing is, all of the above is pretty much what I wanted and what felt was so impossible when we started our conversations.

"I see myself working in the nonprofit world in a communications capacity, for public health": This is what we talked about. And now I work at a Center for Communication Programs, and I write their press releases.

"I like New York but loathe it other days". Yep, I pretty much hated it, and myself, at the time we started coaching. I had a ton of anxiety an d couldn't sleep well. I couldn't enjoy many things because I had financial stress and wasn't well rested. I love my new quiet city, where the rent is cheap and the beers are $1.75 (ok, happy hour price), and I have made great new friends already.

I love your advice about "being an active player in your own life". You told me to talk about what I was passionate about, and not be afraid to make goals to live that dream. This really paid off for me. One day, I was talking to an old friend at a party about my future job goals and it turned out she knew of just the job for me. I did that.

I still write down my 5 Things each nite and my goals. I have recommended your coaching to many people and will continue to do so." R. - Maryland
